Yes, the backorder date showing on the website for the Nike 3 Pk Dri-Fit 1/2 Cushion Crew Sock with the Black colorway is the estimated warehouse receipt date given by the vendor. As long as the shipment is on time, this style should be available in the second week of November, 2012.

Not in this design. The men's Nike 3 Pk Dri-Fit 1/2 Cushion Crew Socks are sold as shown on the website and no other colorway selections were presented to us through the manufacturer.

Does the size affect the length of the sock (how far it goes up your leg), or just the size of the foot portion of the sock?

I wear size 9 shoes, so I ordered the Large (8-12), but it went up to my knee because I have shorter legs, so I was wondering if a smaller size would make the sock shorter on my leg, which is what I desire.

You would think a larger size in the Nike 3 Pk Dri-Fit 1/2 Cushion Crew Sock would give a longer sock as well, but it doesn't seem to. Based on measurements, the actual crew length of the sock will be the same for all sizes.
