the saucony a5 out of the two, but neither are sprint shoes so go buy something else. these are predominantly a distance race shoe. as an Australian world champs representative I use them for 5km/3mile races through to half marathon on road. FOR RACES - overtraining in this shoe may lead to foot injuries due to low profile tread.
if you are looking to race competitively over middle to long distance on track or road these are your edge!!

I can point out specific differences between the men's ASICS® GEL-Piranha SP 4 & the men's Saucony Grid Type A5 shoe, but personal preference in the technology used in the designs of the shoes might determine which style you prefer most. Even tho the manufacturer's have different terminology for their shoe designs, most vendors will use their own shoe technology to get similar results as their competitors. So differences in materials, structure, and weight can matter to some runners because these are the main differences between racing flats. For instance, Asics uses a Solyte® midsole for cushioning & durability and Saucony uses a SSL EVA midsole design. Both styles have good breathability, but some may feel the bigger holes of the Saucony upper will allow more air thru. The Asics brand weighs about an ounce and 1/2 less than the Saucony brand, which does matter to some serious runners. Maybe checking out the construction designs of each style on their respective vendor website may help you make a decision between the two styles.
