Both designs you've mentioned appear to be mid-cut, so you will have adequate ankle support if this is what you were after. The men's Nike Alpha Speed TD 3/4 cleat is lighter, has more cleat studs, and may be the preference of a receivers over the Nike Lunar Superbad Pro D. The men's Nike Lunar Superbad Pro D cleat seems to be built a little more durable and has better foot lockdown, which may be more suitable for 'back' positions such as linebackers or running backs. But in the end it will come down to personal preference regardless. Both designs can be used for various positions.

Question

Is this shoe for a quarterback?

I'm a varsity quarterback and am wondering if it is a good shoe for my position. Will it be light enough? What positions is this shoe really made for? I always buy under armour cleats and i am switching over to nike this year because i wasn't satisfied with my order two years in a row with under armour because at the end of the season a cleat would break off of the soul of the shoe.

The men's Nike Lunar Superbad Pro D cleat is probably intended for quick positions such as corners, safety, running backs, tight ends, and quarterbacks. This design would work well for quarterbacks because of the support and weight of the shoe. It does come down to personal preference in the end. Some might prefer a mid cut cleat in a quarterback position for more support, even tho the men's Nike Lunar Superbad Pro D cleat has a strap for better stability.

Yes, the ankle stabilizer brace will work in your normal size for the men's Nike Lunar Superbad Pro D cleat and would probably provide better support than just tape.
