Is the challenge red/black the same material?

In the picture, the 2012 AJ Lite challenge red/black looks different than the "plasticy" material of the other colors. Is this the case?

Yes. It doesn't appear so in the image, but the men's Jordan AJ 2012 Lite shoe in the Challenge Red/White/Black colorway has the same type of plastic covering on the upper as the other styles are showing.

There are no orders in the system for more sizes in the men's Jordan AJ 2012 Lite shoe with the White/Midnight Navy/Wolf Grey colorway. However, more sizes are being restocked at the warehouse in the Black/Midnight Navy/White colorway. The estimated delivery for this shipment is in the third week of November, 2012. These are the only two that I can think of for which you are referencing as a Navy Blue.

Both designs are great shoes for basketball. In the end, it will depend on the type of construction or shoe technology you prefer. The men's Nike Hyperdunk uses a basketball-specific Lunarlon midsole whereas the men's Jordan AJ 2012 Lite shoe has an injected foam midsole outfitted with an encapsulated forefoot and heel Air-Sole® unit. This and the actual outsole traction pattern will be the main differences between the two styles, not to mention the color schemes. Both designs utilize the FlyWire upper, both have great ankle support and foot stability, and both designs weigh about the same. I do not know when the shoes will be sale priced. Try to check the site weekly for discounts.

The image for the men's Jordan AJ 2012 Lite shoe in the White/Midnight Navy/Wolf Grey colorway is being reshot so a newer image of the style can be posted. The only explanation that I can offer is that this was a vendor 'sample' image given to us before we actually had the shoes in stock. All the styles under this shoe model will have the exact same graphic details...except for the coloring.
