For the most part, you will not need a special adapter for the IPhone 5's to work with the men's Nike Lebron X + Sport Pack Bundle. What is needed is already built into your phone. This is the specific response I received from the vendor. I hope it helps you out...
The Lebron X+ with Nike+ Basketball functionality is definitely a great way to track your game and follow your improvement. Let me explain the current compatibility situation of those shoes.
You are correct, first, that the iPhone 5 does use a new adapter, which is referred to as the Lightning port. As you've figured out, the Sport Adapter included in our existing Sport Pack won't be able to connect to a Lightning port.
The good news is that on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, the Sport Adapter is actually not required! The iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S have what's called Bluetooth Low Energy, or BTLE, built into them. This is the standard that the Shoe Sensors inside the Lebron X+ communicate by, and so the iPhone 5/4S can wirelessly connect with those shoes without the need for any kind of external adapter. You'll simply need to make sure that the Bluetooth option in your iPhone's settings is enabled.
The reason we include the Sport Adapter with the Sport Pack is that earlier devices, specifically the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, do not have BTLE built in as part of their Bluetooth suites, and so the Sport Adapter, which adds the capability for BTLE, is required to use Nike+ Basketball with those phones. The iPod Touch line (prior to the newest model) also lacks BTLE, and so the Sport Adapter would be needed for those devices as well.
