Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Pick your mix and motivate your run with the Nike + iPod® Sport Kit. Nike+ lets you listen to tunes while you track your progress on an iPod® nano. Simply slip the Nike+ sensor into your Nike+ Ready shoe and head out. The Nike+ sensor slips unobtrusively into a pocket under the sockliner. Waterproof and virtually unbreakable. The iPod® nano tracks your progress, providing feedback on distance, time, pace and calories burned directly through the headphones. After your run, a performance summary appears on the nano screen and can be heard through the headphones. iPod® not included.

I just had a different question about the Nike + iPod Sport Kit and this is the response I received from the manufacturer:
For the iPhone 4 or 5 the consumer does not need the complete Sport Kit, only the shoe sensor. The shoe sensor will work with Nike+ iPod application. If the customer is using an iPhone they can use the Nike+ Running application which is free and does not require a sensor at all. This application will use the phones GPS signal and accelerometer to track activity.
(I imagine these 'applications' need to be downloaded from vendor's website, but should work with any iPod)
I hope this information helps.

I believe the adapter in the Nike + iPod Sport Kit is just for an iPod. Unfortunately, the technology changes so quickly and I do not know if the adapter for the iPod is universal with an adapter from an iPhone. I have an inquiry sent to the vendor to try to get more detailed information for you and will post another answer once I find out for sure. I wanted to at least get some answer out to you so you don't feel like you were forgotten. I am not sure how long it will take for them to respond back to me.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn't give an indication of the longevity of the Nike + iPod Sport Kit. It is just stated that the kit contains 'a waterproof, durable Nike+ sensor.'

I took the information for your earlier question directly from the vendor's website. I would recommend contacting their Customer Service Team for more specifics on the Nike + iPod Sport Kit if needed. But with all the information I could find on the unit, I believe only the Ipod Nano will work with this particular kit.

The Nike + iPod Sport Kit contains a waterproof, durable Nike+ sensor that fits inside your shoe, as well as a receiver that connects to your iPod nano. These are the other 'parts' you'll need to use this kit:
A pair of Nike+ ready shoes
An iPod nano
Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, Windows Vista, or Windows XP (SP2) Home or Professional
Internet access to connect to Nikeplus.com

I've went to the vendor to try to get your answer. I've found that the Nike + iPod Sport Kit will work with iPod touch® 2G, iPhone® 3GS or Nike+ SportBand to track your runs. Unfortunately, they do not mention the iPhone 4 yet.
